Marking the sixth anniversary of the Ayushman Bharat scheme, the Ayushman Bharat Bike Yatra was flagged off today at the Civil Secretariat in Itanagar. This initiative kicks off Ayushman Pakhwada, celebrating Ayushman Diwas and aimed at raising awareness about the benefits of the healthcare scheme.
The yatra was launched by Mohesh Chai, Advisor to the Health Minister, alongside Krishna Kumar Singh, Secretary of Health. The initiative underscores the government's commitment to enhancing healthcare access across the nation, emphasizing the importance of affordable healthcare for all citizens.
In his address to the media, Dr. Mohesh Chai praised the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme, stating it has positively impacted millions of households by providing health coverage of up to ₹5 lakh. He acknowledged the current gaps in healthcare services, particularly the shortage of specialists in hospitals, Community Health Centres (CHCs), and Primary Health Centres (PHCs).
Chai assured that efforts are underway to fill these vacancies, noting that the public service commission has recently conducted exams for medical staff and officers. He also announced plans to establish a dedicated cancer hospital in Arunachal Pradesh, aimed at providing accessible treatment for economically disadvantaged patients.
Addressing health concerns specific to the state, Chai highlighted the connection between lifestyle choices and cancer, particularly the risks associated with excessive consumption of smoked meat. He urged the youth to avoid drugs and limit alcohol consumption, advocating for a healthier lifestyle to foster overall progress in the state.
