Arunachal bakers win big at Asia Cake Oscars, bring global recognition to India
Two cake artists from Arunachal Pradesh have brought international recognition to India after winning top honours at the 4th Asia Cake Oscars (World Edition) held in Colombo, Sri Lanka on May 17.
Renowned chefs Tacho Taggu and Suresh Sabar secured prestigious titles in the categories of Non-Dairy Flowers and Cake Sculptures & Sugar Models, competing against culinary artists and pastry experts from several countries.
Representing India on the global stage, the Pasighat-based chefs impressed judges with their intricate edible creations, artistic detailing and technical precision.
The achievement adds to the duo’s growing list of accolades, following multiple national-level victories in recent years.
Speaking after the event, the chefs said they hope the recognition inspires aspiring bakers and culinary entrepreneurs from Northeast India to pursue professional opportunities in the field of baking and sugar art.
The two chefs are also associated with Sugar Arts Studio in Pasighat, a training institute focused on confectionery, baking and sugar art education.
The academy provides hands-on professional training for beginners, home bakers and aspiring entrepreneurs, with an aim to promote skill development and culinary entrepreneurship in the region.
According to the chefs, culinary arts and baking have significant entrepreneurial potential when supported by training, creativity and dedication.
