Arunachal: Boulder crashes onto tourist vehicle on Dirang-Padma road, driver averts disaster

A major landslide occurred along the Tawang National Highway in Arunachal Pradesh, while a large boulder fell onto a tourist vehicle on the Dirang-Padma road, with the occupants escaping unhurt after the driver moved the vehicle away in time.

According to the information available, the boulder suddenly dislodged from the hillside and began falling towards the vehicle carrying tourists. Sensing the danger, the driver immediately moved the vehicle away from the spot, preventing a potentially serious accident.

No casualties have been reported in the incident.

The incident highlights the risks faced by motorists and tourists travelling through the mountainous stretches of the Tawang National Highway, particularly during adverse weather conditions, when the likelihood of landslides and falling debris increases.

The latest incident has also renewed concerns over the safety of travellers on the highway, a key road link through the hilly terrain of Arunachal Pradesh.
