A three-day celebration marking Buddha Purnima concluded at Lungchaseng Buddhist Vihar in Nampong, located in Arunachal Pradesh’s Namsai district, drawing over 1,000 participants, including monks, devotees, and government leaders.
The event commenced on Monday with the inauguration of a new Buddha Vihar building by Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein. A formal session followed, where a souvenir dedicated to the occasion was unveiled by dignitaries and guest speakers from across the state.
Among the attendees were Zingnu Namchoom, MLA from Namsai; Wangki Lowang, Minister for Forest, Environment, Geology, and Mining; Tapir Gao, MP from Arunachal East; CR Khampa, Deputy Commissioner of Namsai; Sangey Thinley, SP of Namsai; and Biyuram Wahge, State Health Minister.
Senior monks, including the President of the All Assam Bauddha Mahasabha and Bhikkhu Panyarakkhita, also took part, along with bhikkhus from both Arunachal and Assam.
Mein highlighted the spiritual importance of the occasion, stating that the day commemorates the birth, enlightenment, and nirvana of Lord Buddha, making it one of the most sacred observances for Buddhists worldwide.
