Arunachal CM inaugurates Jambey Tashi Memorial Peace Park in Dirang, honours legacy of his late brother

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on November 2 inaugurated the Jambey Tashi Memorial Peace Park at Chug Valley, Dirang, in loving remembrance of his elder brother, Late Jambey Tashi, on his third death anniversary (Punyatithi).

The consecration prayers at the serene site were led by His Eminence Padma Guru Tulku Rinpoche, offering prayers for peace and for the eternal progress of the departed soul toward higher Nirvana.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Khandu said the Peace Park will stand as a lasting symbol of harmony, compassion, and selfless service — values that defined the life and leadership of Late Jambey Tashi. “This park reflects the noble path he walked in life and will continue to inspire generations,” Khandu said.

Dirang MLA and Advisor to PWD Minister, Phurpa Tsering, who was a close friend of Jambey Tashi, said the memorial is a heartfelt tribute built by well-wishers on land donated for the purpose. “It stands as a reminder of his remarkable contributions to the state and to the people he served,” he told India Today.

Tawang MLA Namgey Tsering also paid tribute to the late leader, describing him as a visionary who worked tirelessly to transform the Lumla constituency. “His dedication and leadership touched countless lives in Tawang,” he said.

Late Jambey Tashi, a three-time MLA from Lumla, was known for his commitment to inclusive development and grassroots progress. A prominent BJP leader, he had earlier served with the Indian National Congress and the People’s Party of Arunachal before joining the BJP.

He passed away on November 2, 2022, leaving behind his wife, Tsering Lhamu, two daughters, and a son. His wife later succeeded him as the MLA from Lumla.

The newly inaugurated Peace Park now stands as a tribute to Jambey Tashi’s enduring legacy — one rooted in unity, compassion, and service to the people of Arunachal Pradesh.
