Arunachal CM inaugurates multi-crore projects in Dirang, urges voters to reject ‘cash-for-vote’ culture
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Sunday, November 2 inaugurated a series of multi-crore development projects in Dirang under West Kameng district, reaffirming his government’s commitment to balanced growth and transparent governance.
Accompanied by Home Minister Mama Natung and several MLAs, the Chief Minister dedicated four key infrastructure projects to the public — the Double Lane Steel Composite Bridge at Kharsa, the newly constructed Sub-Division Secretariat (ADC Office) in Dirang, the upgraded Government Higher Secondary School, and the scenic Changphu Park.
Speaking during the inaugural ceremony, Chief Minister Khandu emphasized that the projects are a testament to the state government’s vision of inclusive and sustainable development, made possible through the collaborative efforts of Dirang MLA Phurpa Tsering and local stakeholders.
Addressing the gathering, Khandu also spoke candidly about the growing “cash-for-vote” culture, particularly within a certain community, warning that such practices undermine the democratic spirit of the state. He appealed to voters to uphold integrity and refrain from being influenced by money power in the upcoming Panchayat elections.
“The people of Arunachal must reject the money culture and exercise their democratic rights responsibly,” Khandu asserted, urging citizens to protect the sanctity of elections and strengthen the foundations of good governance.
The Chief Minister also referred to the Arunachal Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act, 1978 (APFRA), emphasizing the importance of maintaining harmony, accountability, and fairness in governance. The event concluded with Khandu reiterating his government’s vision for a “stronger, more connected Arunachal Pradesh” built on unity and progress.
