Arunachal CM lays foundation, inaugurates development projects worth over Rs 150 crore in Lower Siang district
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on February 6, laid the foundation stone and inaugurated a series of major development projects worth more than Rs 150 crore in Lower Siang district, which borders Assam. The programmes were held at the newly declared district headquarters, Siji.
The Chief Minister laid the foundation for nine key infrastructure projects and inaugurated several completed works aimed at improving administration, connectivity and public services in the district. He was accompanied by Health Minister Biyuram Wahge, Sports Minister Kento Jini, Urban Development and Housing Minister Balo Raja, local MLA from Likabali and Deputy Speaker of the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly Kardo Nyigyor. Several MLAs from the Galo belt areas of Lower Siang, West Siang and Leparada districts were also present.
While reviewing ongoing development works, CM Khandu visited the upgraded 40-bedded Kardu Taipodia District Hospital at Likabali and said the initiatives taken in the district would strengthen governance and service delivery at the grassroots level.
Addressing the media, the Chief Minister said, “Today at Siji, we laid the foundation for a series of transformative infrastructure projects that will redefine administration, connectivity and public services in the region.”
According to officials, the projects include the construction of a Mini Secretariat at Siji, a bridge over the Siji River, road connectivity from Likabali to the district headquarters at Siji, a government secondary school at Dipa, residential accommodation for government officers and staff, a rest house, a fire station, Type-V government quarters at Siji, and a police station at Pale.
CM Khandu also said that during his ten-year tenure, more than six new districts have been created in Arunachal Pradesh to improve administrative efficiency and bring governance closer to the people.
He announced that the upcoming AYUSH hospital near the Kardu Taipodia District Hospital at Likabali will be named after Late Tamar Karlo. He also stated that the new stadium at Siji will be named in honour of Late former minister Jomde Kena.
The development push is expected to give a major boost to infrastructure, healthcare, education and public services in Lower Siang district.
