Strategic development projects worth millions have been unveiled in the sensitive border district of Anjaw in Arunachal Pradesh marking a significant push to strengthen infrastructure along the Indo-China border.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu inaugurated multiple key projects including the Mishmi Tourist Resort at Chandun Village, positioning the remote region as an emerging tourist destination. The resort, offering panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, aims to boost local employment and showcase the unique Mishmi cultural heritage.
"War tourism sites like Kibitho and Walong are already drawing visitors, while Dong's first sunrise viewpoint has untapped potential," Khandu told India Today NE. He emphasised the region's transformation under the Vibrant Village Programme, launched by Home Minister Amit Shah in 2021.
The development package includes critical infrastructure upgrades to the district headquarters at Hawai under CMCSRDP-2. New township roads will improve connectivity, while the modernised Deputy Commissioner's office promises enhanced administrative efficiency.
Local legislator and Minister Dasanglu Pul joined the inauguration alongside key officials including MP Tapir Gao and Assembly Speaker Tesam Pongte.
The projects reflect a broader push to develop frontier areas, combining tourism potential with administrative strengthening. With its proximity to the Indo-China border, Anjaw's development carries both economic and strategic significance for the northeastern state.
