Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu inaugurated 14 infrastructure projects worth Rs 102 crore in the Kalaktang constituency of the West Kameng district today. In a move signaling continued development in the region, he also laid the foundation for 21 new projects valued at Rs 126 crore.

The announcements were made during a high-level meeting held in Shergaon, where discussions focused on key infrastructure initiatives and upcoming development plans. The gathering was attended by Home Minister Mama Natung, local MLA Tseten Chombay, BJP state president Kaling Moyong, former Speaker and NEC member TN Thongdok, along with panchayat leaders and representatives from the four circles of Kalaktang.

One of the crucial projects under consideration is the Shergaon to Mandala Top road, which is currently under survey by the Public Works Department (PWD). Officials confirmed that necessary approvals are expected soon. Another significant proposal is the Shergaon to Doimara road, for which a memorandum was submitted by the Sherdukpen community. PWD will conduct a feasibility survey and submit a report on its implementation.

Water supply remains a key concern in the region, and steps are being taken to secure funding for a centralized water project for Kalaktang and Rupa. The proposal has been received, and efforts are underway for its early execution.

Further, Chief Minister Khandu reiterated the government’s commitment to promoting sports infrastructure. He assured that a stadium will be built in Shergaon to provide better facilities for young athletes.

Khandu lauded the unity and shared vision of the Sherdukpen and Monpa communities in Kalaktang, emphasising their role in driving development forward.
