Arunachal Deputy CM lauds Golden Pagoda Marathon’s role in promoting fitness, economy and zero-waste in state

The inaugural edition of the Golden Pagoda Marathon 2025 concluded on a high note, witnessing participation from over 1,800 runners from across India and beyond. The event, held against the breathtaking backdrop of the Golden Pagoda in Namsai, not only promoted endurance and fitness but also set a benchmark as North-East India’s first zero-waste marathon.

Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, addressing the gathering, underscored the significance of such large-scale sporting initiatives in promoting fitness, boosting local economic opportunities, and positioning Arunachal Pradesh as a destination for adventure sports. He emphasized Namsai’s deep-rooted sporting culture, particularly in football, and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to reviving the state’s sporting legacy through structured programs. Expressing appreciation for the event’s Brand Ambassador, Padma Shri Anshu Jamsenpa, Mein acknowledged her role in inspiring young athletes across the country.

The successful execution of the marathon was made possible through the support of key sponsors, including Sports Spectrum, RG Solutions, State Bank of India (SBI), and Anvil. The event culminated with a grand award ceremony, where top finishers across various categories were honored by distinguished dignitaries such as Advisors Chau Zingnu Namchoom & Dr. Mohesh Chai, HMLAs Smti. Nyabi Jini Dirchi, Topin Ete, Puinnyo Apum, Shri Likha Soni, and Nikh Kamin, along with AIFA Treasurer Kipa Ajay and DC Namsai C R Khampa.

With its resounding success, the Golden Pagoda Marathon is poised to return in 2026 with greater enthusiasm, continuing its mission to inspire active lifestyles, promote sustainability, and showcase the unparalleled beauty of Namsai.
