Arunachal deputy CM rides ATV to remote border post at 10,300 feet

Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein took the wheel of an army ATV for an adventurous journey to one of India's highest border outposts, demonstrating the accessibility of remote defence installations along the state's frontier.

Accompanied by his wife, Mein visited the Lamang Border Post in Mechukha, Shi-yomi district, where he met with Indian Army and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel stationed at the high-altitude post.

"The scenic beauty and the adventurous trails leading to the post makes it an unforgettable visit," Mein said after completing the journey to the outpost, which sits at an elevation of 10,300 feet.

The Deputy CM's visit highlights the challenging terrain that security forces navigate daily in Arunachal Pradesh's border regions. The use of ATVs has become crucial for maintaining regular contact with such remote outposts, especially during adverse weather conditions.

The Lamang post, despite its isolated location, serves as a vital strategic point for monitoring activities along the international border.
