Arunachal: 'Digi Kaksha' smart class initiative launched at government schools in Nikja village

The MLA of Arunachal's 21st Koloriang Assembly constituency of Kurung Kumey district, Pani Taram on August 28 inaugurated Digi Kaksha, a smart class which provides a digital learning pavilion for students at government secondary school in Koloriang's Nikja village.

Digi Kaksha is an initiative introduced by Kurung Kumey Deputy Commissioner, Vishakha Yadav.

Speaking to India Today NE, Yadav asserted, "My goal is to implement smart classes in all government schools in Arunachal Pradesh. I previously started this initiative in Tirap district, where the Digi Kaksha program was launched. Our poor Class 10 results have prompted us to introduce this initiative, as government schools lack such facilities. We have preloaded all content onto a 512GB hard drive in this Android board due to connectivity issues in remote districts like ours near the Indo-China border. Lack of infrastructure and technology have been the main reasons for weakening the foundation of young children, despite the efforts of dedicated teachers."

Applauding the initiative, MLA Pani Taram said, “When comparing government and private schools, a gap in such facilities is evident. In light of this, special attention is being given to smart classes. Our goal is to implement a smart class system in all government schools to enhance the quality of education and make students more competitive. I also appreciate the efforts of my DC for her initiative."

Vishakha Yadav had earlier launched the initiative in remote Tirap district of Arunachal where she was posted as the Additional Deputy Commissioner before joining as the DC of Kurung Kumey district.

The initiative is a collaborative effort between the Kurung Kumey district administration and many NGOs which aim to transform the education system in the state. Many local MLAs also sponsored the infrastructures.

Digi Kaksha stands out with its cutting-edge infrastructure, featuring a 4K HD interactive Android teaching board, a first-of-its-kind project in any government school in the state.

The technology offers an immersive learning experience, providing pre-loaded creative content for Classes Nursery to 12, aligned with the CBSE curriculum. The content caters to the needs of slow and average learners, offering virtual experiments, PhET simulations, and interactive question banks.
