Arunachal Guv confers State Awards, CM’s Award for excellence in public administration
Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, K. T. Parnaik, on February 20 conferred the State Gold and Silver Medals on distinguished individuals and organisations in recognition of their service and contributions to the State. He also presented the Chief Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration at a function held at Lok Bhavan.
The State Gold Medal was awarded to Havildar and Honorary Naib Subedar Lekhi Passang (Retd) of the 2nd Battalion, Arunachal Scouts; whistle-blower Late Gyamar Padang of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission; and the Women Police Station, Pasighat, for their exceptional service and achievements.
Several officials, social workers and organisations were conferred the State Silver Medal for their contributions to governance, welfare and public service across districts. The awardees included administrative officers, police personnel, medical professionals, forest officials and community-based groups.
The Chief Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration for 2025 was presented to various departments and agencies for innovative initiatives. The Urban Development Department of West Siang district was recognised for Aalo Town Beautification, the Nirmal Aalo Movement and achievements under Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) 2.0. The Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission was honoured for institutional reforms, while the District Urban Development Agency, Namsai, received the award for implementing a septage management project in cluster towns.
The office of the Deputy Commissioner, Longding, was awarded for developing a multi-purpose sports hub and recreational park at Kanubari. The District Administration and Women & Child Development Department, West Kameng, was recognised for establishing a technology-enabled anganwadi centre in Bomdila. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh and an honorary scroll.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu lauded the Urban Development Department, Aalo, noting that it had earlier been honoured by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) at the Urban Challenge Summit and Awards ceremony. The recognition marks the department’s second major award for its urban initiatives.
Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein and other dignitaries were present at the ceremony.
