Arunachal hosts three-hour Namsai–Pangsau PowerDrive, showcasing adventure tourism push
Namsai town on January 23 witnessed high-octane action for nearly three hours as the Namsai–Pangsau PowerDrive 2026 drag race drew large crowds along the main thoroughfares of the district headquarters. The event, organised with the support of the Department of Tourism, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, brought together motorsports enthusiasts, local residents and tourists in a vibrant display of speed and adventure.
The District Administration of Namsai had invited local denizens to witness the drag race, which was held along the stretch from Gandhi Chowk Tinali to the Deputy Commissioner’s Office roundabout. Racing activities commenced at noon and continued till around 3 pm, during which bikes and supercars competed, thrilling spectators lined along the route.
The motorsports event formed part of the Namsai–Pangsau PowerDrive 2026, themed “Daring to Push Boundaries, Celebrating Culture.” The initiative seeks to project Arunachal Pradesh as an emerging destination for adventure tourism and motorsports, while simultaneously highlighting the region’s cultural richness.
The two-day event, held from January 22 to 23, is being organised by Adventure X-Fusion Tribe under the aegis of the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India, the national governing body for motorsports. It has been seamlessly integrated with the 10th edition of the Pangsau Pass International Festival 2026, creating a platform that blends competitive racing with cultural celebrations and cross-border significance linked to Indo-Myanmar relations.
The programme is supported by the Department of Tourism, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, with corporate sponsorship from JK Tyre Motorsports and institutional backing from the Assam Rifles. Speaking to India Today, Lakra Tsering, Chairman of Adventure X-Fusion Tribe, said the event was organised to showcase Arunachal Pradesh as a premier car-driving destination with suitable infrastructure, while also promoting the Pangsau Pass International Festival and its broader cultural and diplomatic relevance.
The successful conduct of the PowerDrive in Namsai marked a significant step towards positioning the state on India’s motorsports and adventure tourism map.
