Arunachal: In a first, takins sighted at Tawang’s Zimithang
A group of takins was spotted at Taksang Village in Zimithang under Tawang District near Indo China border which resembles the biodiversity and rich flora and fauna of the State Arunachal Pradesh having 80% of land under forest area.
Takins are generally often sighted in the Dibang Valley district but it was the first time that the animal was spotted in the Tawang district’s Zemithang recently.
Takins are known as kemya in the local Monpa language. A group of takins was seen in Taksang village.
The group of takins was first spotted by the Army near T Gompa in Tripe Heights, which is located along the India-China border on May 24, according to reports.
Earlier this month, one single takin was spotted near the sacred Chhamling Tso Lake. The takin had been separated from the group and had lost its way. The sighting of the takin in the area excited the local community.
