Arunachal in sync on Yoga Day: Uniting communities across towns, valleys, monasteries

Arunachal Pradesh observed the 11th International Day of Yoga 2025 with widespread enthusiasm, participation, and deep cultural reverence across the state. From sacred monasteries and government institutions to military grounds and vibrant villages, yoga brought together thousands under the shared theme “One Earth, One Health.” 
 

The events were marked by mass yoga sessions, speeches promoting holistic well-being, and strong calls to integrate yoga into daily life for physical, mental, and emotional balance.


Senior ministers, including Governor Lt. Gen. K.T. Parnaik (Retd.), Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, Health Minister Biyuram Wahge, and Minister Pasang Dorjee Sona, joined citizens, students, and security personnel in celebrating the ancient Indian practice that has now become a global movement.


Yoga Session at Itanagar led by health, education ministers


The Department of Health & Family Welfare, in collaboration with the Ministry of AYUSH, Art of Living, and Regional Ayurveda Research Institute (CCRAS), hosted a large yoga session at 6 Kilo, Itanagar. 


Ministers Biyuram Wahge and Pasang Dorjee Sona, along with Secretary Vivek HP and schoolchildren, joined the event. The session reflected the theme of this year — "One Earth, One Health" — echoing the Indian philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.


Yoga sessions were also held across all *Health Centres, Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, and **vibrant villages* throughout the state.


Serenity at Golden Pagoda, Namsai


At the Golden Pagoda (Kongmu Kham) in Namsai, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein and Women and Child Development Minister Dasanglu Pul participated in a yoga session organized by the 4 Madras Regiment, in collaboration with the district administration. DCM Mein praised yoga as a lifelong practice that brings “profound physical, mental, and psychological benefits,” and credited PM Narendra Modi for placing yoga on the global stage.


Governor leads celebration at Raj Bhavan, Itanagar


The Raj Bhavan in Itanagar witnessed a dignified and inclusive celebration led by Governor Lt. Gen. K.T. Parnaik. Joined by officials, NCC cadets, ITBP personnel, Bharat Scouts & Guides, and students from Sangay Lhaden Sports Academy, the Governor emphasized yoga’s role in nurturing inner peace and ecological responsibility. 


He encouraged youth to adopt yoga as a daily practice and unveiled a wellness booklet titled “Yoga for Common Health Challenges.”


Yoga session at Chillipam Monastery, Rupa


Over 200 participants gathered at the Chillipam Monastery (Sang Ngag Choekhor Dargyeling) near Rupa, West Kameng, for a deeply spiritual and visually serene yoga session. MLA Tseten Chombay, monks, BJP leaders, students, and residents practiced yoga under the guidance of Hari Narayan Thakur. 


The event was jointly organized by the General Administration, BJP Rupa Mandal, and ZPC Karma Dorjee Thongdok. 


The picturesque monastery served as a perfect backdrop for a day of mindfulness and community bonding.


Tawang high-altitude Yoga celebration


In Tawang, the district administration, students, and BJP members gathered at the Gyalwa Tsewang Gyatso High Altitude Stadium for a large-scale yoga event. The celebrations promoted harmony between health and environment, aligning with the day’s global message of interconnected well-being.
