Arunachal MLA Techi Kaso leads major rally backing BJP’s Yukar Yaro in Itanagar’s ward 10
Itanagar MLA Techi Kaso led a major rally on December 7 in support of BJP corporator candidate Yukar Yaro for Ward 10, a crucial constituency where non-Arunachali voters comprise 70 per cent of the electorate.
The ward, covering Itanagar P Sector Gandhi Market and C Sector areas, is amongst 20 constituencies where BJP candidates are contesting in the Itanagar Municipal Corporation elections scheduled for December 15. Vote counting will take place on December 20.
Kaso, accompanied by Home and Education Adviser Mutchu Mithi and BJP Arunachal Pradesh General Secretary Tadar Niglar, campaigned at Gandhi Market, highlighting Yaro's civic initiatives during her previous five-year tenure from 2020 to 2025.
The MLA pointed to development projects including schools, drainage systems and a new road from Circuit House to Punjabi Dhaba, for which Yaro voluntarily donated land.
Four BJP candidates have already won unopposed in the Itanagar Municipal Corporation: Techi Mema (Ward 4), Tok Tabin Camdir (Ward 19), Gichik Tachu (Ward 6) and Kabak Sumpa Nabam (Ward 7).
Speaking to reporters, Yaro said she had undertaken development works according to her capacity and would complete pending projects if re-elected.
"Becoming Mayor was a dream, and if I get the support of the public and the BJP, I will become a contender if the situation demands," she said.
The municipal corporation elections are being held simultaneously with panchayat body elections across Arunachal Pradesh.
