In preparation for the upcoming Assembly elections in Arunachal Pradesh, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), led by Ajit Pawar, has kicked off its campaign by distributing tickets to its candidates. This move marks the beginning of what promises to be a politically charged contest in the northeastern state.
During a mass joining program of the NCP, eight candidates were declared for the 2024 election. These candidates include Likha Saaya for the 16th Yachuli constituency, Tapang Taloh for the 35th Pangin constituency, Loma Gollo for the 12th Pakke Kessang constituency, Nyasan Jongsam for the 53rd Changlang North constituency, Ngolin Boi for the 54th Namsang constituency, Aju Chije for the 33rd Mechuka constituency, Mongol Yamso for the 40th Maniyang-Geku constituency, and Adv. Salman Mongrey for the 52nd Changlang South constituency.
The decision to contest all 60 seats in the upcoming elections was made during a crucial meeting where the political landscape and organizational strength of the party in Arunachal Pradesh were thoroughly analyzed. The meeting saw the participation of prominent party leaders, including NCP national president Ajit Pawar and national working president Praful Patel, alongside other office-bearers.
Speaking to the media, Likha Saaya, the NCP party president of Arunachal Pradesh, emphasized that while both the BJP and NCP are alliance parties, there will be a friendly match in the upcoming elections. He reiterated that despite contesting all 60 seats, the NCP remains open to post-election alliances in a collaborative manner.
