Arunachal: Niba Hospital condemns violence on premises, seeks probe

Niba Hospital in Papunalah, Itanagar, has condemned a physical altercation between two unidentified groups on its premises on Friday morning, September 18, saying the incident caused distress among patients, attendants and hospital staff and resulted in damage to hospital property.

According to the hospital, the incident took place at around 7.30 am on September 18, when the two groups were involved in a physical altercation inside the hospital premises.

The hospital said the incident caused considerable distress and mental agony to patients, their attendants, doctors, nurses and other staff members who were present at the time.

“A hospital is a place where patients and their families should feel safe, secure, and protected, and such acts of violence and disorder have no place within our premises,” Niba Hospital said in an official statement.

The hospital said it would not tolerate violence, intimidation, vandalism or disruptive behaviour within its premises, stressing that the safety and well-being of patients, attendants and staff remained its highest priority.

An FIR has been lodged with the concerned police authorities in connection with the incident, the hospital said.

Niba Hospital added that it was cooperating with the authorities and would provide CCTV footage and other relevant information to assist the investigation.

The hospital appealed to all visitors and members of the public to maintain peace and discipline and refrain from any form of violence within or around healthcare facilities.

“Niba Hospital remains committed to providing a safe, peaceful, and caring environment for all our patients and staff,” it said.
