The Daporijo police of Upper Subansiri district, have arrested nine individuals in connection with the kidnapping and murder of Sanjay Nath, a man from Assam. The case, which began as a missing person report on September 1, quickly escalated into a homicide investigation.
The victim, Sanjay Nath, allegedly owed 2,30,000 rupees to Tabu Doni, one of the main suspects. On August 22, upon learning of Nath's arrival in Daporijo, a group of four individuals abducted him from the Subansiri Bridge. They took him to Doni's house, where he was reportedly beaten.
In a grim twist, the suspects, realising Nath had died from the assault, attempted to cover up their crime. They transported the body to various locations before finally burying it along the Subansiri riverbank, approximately 7 kilometres from Daporijo.
The police, led by DSP Gamli Loyi, conducted an intensive investigation that culminated in the discovery of Nath's body on September 2. The subsequent post-mortem examination confirmed the identity of the deceased.
Among those arrested were Tabu Doni, the alleged mastermind, and individuals from various parts of Arunachal Pradesh and neighbouring states, including Arjun Ramsyari, Yachak Rai, Dipak Tamang, Kamki Lusi Leya, Anand Rao, Nimar Lamdik, Tai Lamdik and Jeke Marbom. The suspects face charges including kidnapping, murder, and concealment of evidence.
