Arunachal Police marks 53rd Raising Day with Governor’s call for discipline and compassion
The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Lt. General KT Parnaik, PVSM, UYSM, YSM (Retd.), graced the 53rd Raising Day celebration of the Arunachal Pradesh Police as the Chief Guest at the Police Training Centre, Banderdewa, on Saturday, November 8.
The Governor laid a wreath at the Martyrs’ Pillar, reviewed the Raising Day Parade commanded by Deputy Superintendent of Police Nabam Rikam, and took the salute of the marching contingents.
Extending his greetings to serving and retired members of the Arunachal Pradesh Police and their families, Governor Parnaik expressed confidence that every member of the force would continue to uphold their proud motto, “Satya, Seva, Suraksha”—Truth, Service, and Protection.
“When you offer service, you earn trust. And when you ensure protection, you strengthen the very foundation of our State,” the Governor said.
In his address, the Governor lauded the Arunachal Pradesh Police for its professionalism, courage, and consistent dedication to maintaining peace and security across the State. He said that a disciplined and people-centric police force serves as the backbone of a healthy democracy.
“Discipline is the bedrock of policing,” he stated, adding that it ensures honesty in action, humility in conduct, and unwavering dedication to duty even when no one is watching. He emphasized that professionalism strengthens the dignity of the uniform and empowers officers to serve with pride and excellence.
The Governor also underscored the importance of physical fitness and moral character, saying that effective policing rests on strong ethics and a clear conscience.
Highlighting the need for continuous learning, the Governor urged police personnel to stay updated and well-versed with the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA)—the new criminal laws that seek to make the justice system more responsive and citizen-friendly.
A firm advocate of modernized policing, the Governor stressed on adopting Smart Policing practices and integrating advanced technologies to enhance efficiency. He also called for regular orientation and training programs to help the force adapt to emerging challenges.
Drawing from his experience as an Army Commander, Governor Parnaik highlighted the need for strong welfare measures for police personnel and their families, stating that officers can serve wholeheartedly only when their families’ well-being is ensured.
On the occasion, he presented the Best Marching Contingent Trophy to the Arunachal Pradesh Women Contingent, led by Lady Sub-Inspector Tage Ami, commending their discipline, poise, and sharp drill. He also presented the DGP’s Commendation Disc to several meritorious officers and personnel.
The celebration featured Unarmed Combat and Dog Squad demonstrations, cultural performances, a mass PT display, and impressive band presentations by the Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, PTC.
As part of the 53rd Raising Day, the Governor inaugurated an exhibition on the new criminal laws, a state-of-the-art classroom building, and flagged off mobile forensic vans, interceptor vehicles, and recovery cranes introducing, for the first time in the state, the interceptor system for tracking traffic offences.
State Home Minister Mama Natung, Director General of Police Anand Mohan, and Inspector General of Police (Law & Order) Chuku Apa also addressed the gathering. The event concluded with a Bara Khana attended by the Governor, senior police officers, Superintendents of Police, and Commandants from various districts.
