Arunachal Pradesh: One dead, another injured in midnight fire opposite Civil Secretariat in Itanagar

A woman lost her life and another person sustained injuries after a massive fire broke out in the early hours of Friday, February 27, in E Sector, opposite the Arunachal Pradesh Civil Secretariat.

The blaze erupted around 12:30 AM  and completely gutted a residential house. Local residents reported hearing multiple LPG cylinder explosions, which intensified the fire and led to its rapid spread.

The deceased has been identified as Tarh Yayum. Another individual who suffered injuries in the incident has been admitted to a hospital for treatment.

Fire and emergency services rushed to the spot and managed to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby houses. However, a firefighter from the Itanagar Fire Station later shared a video alleging that a structure, reportedly a meat shop constructed along the colony road, obstructed the fire tender’s access and caused a delay in reaching the site. In the video, he appealed to the public to avoid unauthorised constructions that could hamper emergency response operations.

The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Authorities have launched an investigation, and further details are awaited.
