Arunachal transport body seeks postponement of training over Nyokum, Losar
The All Arunachal Pradesh Public Transport Federation (AAPPTF) has urged the Transport Department of Arunachal Pradesh to postpone the scheduled Residential Training Programme slated from February 22 to 25, citing the observance of major indigenous festivals during the same period.
In a representation addressed to the Commissioner of Transport, the federation, led by its president Dobing Sonam and executive members, requested that the training be deferred in view of the upcoming Nyokum Yullo and Losar celebrations.
Speaking to India Today, Dobing Sonam expressed concern over the scheduling overlap, stating that the Residential Training Programme coincides with the mega Nyokum Yullo festival of the Nyishi community as well as the Buddhist Losar festival. He urged the department to consider rescheduling the programme to a suitable date after the conclusion of the festivities.
Sonam maintained that a considerate administrative decision would uphold constitutional values, boost employee morale and reinforce respect for indigenous traditions, while in no way diluting the objectives of the training initiative.
The federation has called on the authorities to take an early decision to ensure that members can participate in both professional and cultural commitments without conflict.
