Arunachal’s Joti Mane shines in Tawang Marathon, claims second runner-up prize

Joti Mane, a female athlete and national championship winner from Arunachal Pradesh, emerged as the lone winner in the open category of the Tawang Marathon, completing the 10 km race. Mane's impressive performance earned her the second runner-up prize of Rs 50,000.

The marathon, held in the picturesque town of Tawang, saw a diverse range of competitors, including Ethiopian athlete Aberash Minsewo, who triumphed in the challenging 42 km category, taking home a cash prize of ₹3 lakhs.

Speaking to India Today NE, Joti Mane reflected on her experience of participating in a marathon for the first time at such a high altitude. Tawang, situated over 10,000 feet above sea level and near the Indo-China border, posed unique challenges. Mane expressed her exhilaration at completing the race and highlighted the breathtaking scenery that accompanied her run.
