BJP dismisses rumours of leadership change in Arunachal Pradesh
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Arunachal Pradesh has rejected social media reports claiming that Chief Minister Pema Khandu has been asked by the party's central leadership to step down and that Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein could replace him.
Addressing the media, Tezu MLA Mohesh Chai termed the reports circulated by some Northeast-based media platforms and social media accounts as false and misleading.
He said there had been no directive from the BJP leadership regarding a change of leadership in the state.
Chai maintained that the BJP-led government remains stable and continues to enjoy the support of party legislators as well as its alliance partners. He also stated that the party's central leadership had clarified that the reports were baseless.
Dismissing speculation over a change at the top, Chai said there was no proposal to replace Khandu and that he would continue to lead the state government while overseeing ongoing development initiatives.
