Border transgressions along China frontier not new, won’t affect tourism: Arunachal CM
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on October 29 said transgressions along the India-China border were not new and asserted that the Indian Army was guarding the country's frontiers effectively.
Interacting with the media on the sidelines of the 14th International Tourism Mart for the Northeast region, Khandu was asked whether border tensions could affect tourism in Arunachal Pradesh.
The Chief Minister said China did not recognise the McMahon Line, resulting in periodic border-related issues along Arunachal Pradesh's long frontier with the neighbouring country.
"Sometimes these issues happen. From here also soldiers travel that side, and from their side also patrolling happens. This is transgression, not intrusion, and this is not a new thing," Khandu said.
He expressed confidence in the Indian Army's ability to safeguard the country's borders, saying the force was guarding the frontiers effectively.
