Discipline today, success tomorrow: Naharlagun SP at AU fest finale
Arunodaya University concluded its annual AU FEST-2025, a five-day literary, cultural, and sports festival, with a vibrant valedictory programme at its campus on Thursday.
Speaking at the final-day event, Naharlagun SP Neelam Nega urged students to cultivate discipline early in life, remarking, “Maintain discipline from a young age. After 40, you will remember my words.” He encouraged the students to learn diverse skills for a brighter future and stressed that games and sports not only build physical fitness but also instill leadership and discipline.
Emphasising the role of youth in nation-building, he advised students to “have high ambitions, but moderate expectations and small needs.”
IAS officer Talo Potom, who attended as Special Guest, asked students to prioritise academics while channelising their remaining energy into extracurricular activities.
The concluding ceremony featured traditional fashion shows, dances, and singing competitions among students from the university’s four houses — Siang, Subansiri, Kumey, and Kameng. Senior officials, including IGP Tumme Amo, Papum Pare DC Vishakha Yadav (IAS) and other dignitaries graced the fest, which began on 17 November.
Awards for literary, cultural, and sports events were presented by the University Registrar.
In his welcome address, Vice Chancellor Dr Sureah Verma highlighted the achievements of students in academics, sports, NSS, and co-curricular activities. Dean Academics Sohan Kr Jha and faculty members were also present.
Speaking to the media, Deputy Registrar Kumod Kumar Jha said Arunodaya University is UGC-approved, with thousands of students earning globally valid degrees, including PhDs. He added that with a new campus and upcoming expansion plans, the annual fest plays an essential role in strengthening academic, cultural, and sports activities for students.
