Eastern Himalayas set for high-octane action as National MTB Championships come to Arunachal
Roing in Arunachal Pradesh’s Lower Dibang Valley district is gearing up to host the 22nd National Mountain Bike (MTB) Cycling Championships from February 12 to 15, 2026. The national-level championship is expected to draw India’s finest off-road cyclists, spotlighting Arunachal Pradesh as a rising hub for competitive mountain biking.
The prestigious event is being organised by the Arunachal Cycling Association under the aegis of the Cycling Federation of India (CFI). Riders from across the country will compete in Senior, Junior and Sub-Junior categories, adding to the championship’s stature on the Indian cycling calendar.
The competition will be held on a 3.9-kilometre technical trail at the Game Village site in Roing, designed to test riders’ endurance, skill and adaptability amid challenging mountain conditions. Participants will be provided boarding and lodging from February 10 to 16, while transportation arrangements are being made from Tinsukia Railway Station to ensure smooth logistics.
In line with national sporting regulations, all participants must possess a valid 2026 CFI rider’s licence. The event will also be conducted under strict anti-doping norms, with the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) set to carry out random dope tests during the championships.
Beyond competition, the event is expected to give a major boost to sports tourism in Arunachal Pradesh, showcasing Roing’s scenic landscapes and tough Himalayan terrain as an ideal destination for adventure and endurance sports.
