Heavy monsoon rains submerge officer's colony in Itanagar, trigger widespread waterlogging
Heavy monsoon rains lashed Arunachal Pradesh's capital, Itanagar, leading to severe waterlogging and flooding in several parts of the city, with Officer's Colony on Zoo Road emerging as one of the worst-affected areas.
Continuous downpours inundated roads and residential localities across the capital, disrupting normal life and causing floodwaters to enter homes and colonies. Residents reported difficulties in movement as several streets remained submerged under rainwater.
Officer's Colony, a prominent residential and administrative locality situated along Zoo Road, was completely submerged following the heavy rainfall. The area houses senior government officers' flats and several important administrative and support facilities, making the flooding a matter of concern for residents and authorities alike.
Visuals from the locality showed waterlogged roads and flooded residential premises, highlighting the extent of the inundation. The colony is located on the route leading to the Biological Park Itanagar, popularly known as the Itanagar Zoo.
The heavy rainfall has exposed drainage challenges in parts of the capital, with residents calling for immediate measures to improve water discharge and prevent recurring flooding during the monsoon season.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation as rains continue across the region. Residents have been advised to remain cautious and avoid waterlogged areas.
