Heavy rainfall triggers massive landslides, road damage in Arunachal’s Keyi Panyor

Heavy rainfall that lashed parts of Arunachal on Wednesday, June 24, morning caused extensive damage in Possa village, Pitapool and Nepco Colony under Keyi Panyor district, disrupting normal life and affecting transportation connectivity.

According to local sources, continuous rainfall triggered landslides and soil erosion at multiple locations, leading to significant damage to roads and related infrastructure across the affected areas.

The key road connecting Potin and Possa has been blocked at several points following landslips and the accumulation of debris, rendering the route inaccessible for vehicular movement.

The disruption has affected daily commuting and interrupted the movement of essential goods and services in the region, causing inconvenience to residents.

Authorities, along with local residents, are assessing the extent of the damage and are expected to undertake restoration work to re-establish road connectivity at the earliest.

Meanwhile, travelers and local residents have been advised to avoid the Potin–Possa route until further notice and exercise caution amid prevailing weather conditions.

No casualties have been reported so far. However, officials remain on alert as rainfall is expected to continue in parts of the district.
