Itanagar set to host major dance competition ‘best of the best’

Renowned choreographers and judges receive warm welcome at Donyi Polo Airport ahead of grand finale

Itanagar is all set to host the 3rd Battle Edition of the major underground dance competition “Best of the Best” on May 22 and 23, bringing together dancers and performers from across the Northeast and other parts of the country.

Renowned dancers and choreographers — BEDROC, JASIKA, POPPIN TICKO and BBOY KAAMIL — arrived in Itanagar and were accorded a warm welcome at Donyi Polo Airport ahead of the finale scheduled for May 23 at the Artisan-cum-Handicraft Exhibition Centre.

The “Best of the Best” dance battle has emerged as one of the premier underground dance events in Arunachal Pradesh, promoting hip-hop, popping, and b-boying culture among the youth. The competition is spearheaded by noted dancer and choreographer Nangbia Chanda, popularly known as the “Popping Girl” of Arunachal Pradesh.

Nangbia Chanda gained national recognition after becoming a finalist in India's Got Talent in 2015 and later appeared as a guest performer on Dance Plus Season 2.

Speaking to the media, event head Chasom Bosai said the competition would be more than just a dance battle and would resemble a cultural festival showcasing hidden talent from across the country.

He stated that participants from various Northeastern states as well as mainland India are taking part in the event, providing a major platform for young dancers to showcase their skills and creativity.

Bosai also urged people to attend the event and support the dancers, adding that entry for spectators will be free of cost.
