Lawyer warns against sharing unblurred images of Arunachali girls in Delhi racial abuse case
Advocate Liyi Marli Noshi, who is representing the three Arunachali girls recently subjected to racial abuse in Delhi, on February 26 made a strong appeal to the public and media persons to immediately stop circulating unblurred photographs and videos of the victims on social media.
In a video statement, the advocate said that despite earlier appeals by organisations such as the Delhi-based Northeastern Union requesting people not to reveal the identities of the girls, their images continue to be shared widely, particularly by social media users from the Northeast.
“Even after repeated requests, we are still seeing photos and videos being circulated without blurring the faces. This is a criminal offence,” Advocate Nosh said, stressing that such actions are causing severe mental stress to the victims, who are still coping with the trauma of the racial attack.

She urged social media users to refrain from posting any visuals in which the identities of the girls are clearly visible. “This is creating immense pressure and distress for the children. From today onwards, if we find anyone using their pictures or videos without blurring their faces, we will initiate criminal proceedings against them,” she warned.
The advocate reiterated that protecting the identity of victims is not only a moral responsibility but also a legal requirement, especially in cases involving vulnerable individuals. She appealed for sensitivity and responsible behaviour, urging the public to support the victims without further violating their privacy.
