Massive forest fire near Arunachal's Dirang brought under control following swift response by SSB personnel
A massive forest fire broke out near the Nimas area and Kendriya Vidyalaya (K.V.) Dirang at around 2:30 PM on June 28, triggering concern over the safety of nearby residential settlements and public property.
According to official information, the fire occurred within the Area of Responsibility (AoR) of the 30th Battalion of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and spread across an estimated stretch of nearly 300 metres.
Upon receiving information about the incident, personnel of the Quick Reaction Team (RRT) and 30th Battalion SSB immediately rushed to the site and initiated firefighting and rescue operations. Acting as first responders, the teams undertook coordinated efforts to contain the blaze and prevent further spread.
Officials stated that the timely intervention by the SSB personnel successfully brought the fire under control and averted potential damage to residential houses and public assets located in the vicinity.
The prompt response by the 30th Battalion SSB, including the RRT team, is reported to have prevented the fire from reaching numerous nearby homes. No casualties or major property damage were reported at the time of filing this report.
Further assessment of the affected area is expected to be carried out by the concerned authorities.
