Milk production to get a boost in Arunachal's Longding
In a step aimed at enhancing dairy output, the Department of Animal Husbandry, Veterinary and Dairy Development, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, on April 24, distributed 20 cattle, including 19 pregnant cows and one breeding bull, to Dairy Cooperative Societies in Senua village of Longding district.
The village, located near Longding town, was selected following multiple rounds of surveys conducted by departmental officials. Residents of Senua are known for their experience in cattle rearing, which officials believe will support effective utilisation of the initiative.
The cattle were procured from Sahiwal district in Punjab, known for its high-yield dairy breeds. In a notable development, ten calves were born during transit and the subsequent quarantine period, further adding to the district’s dairy potential.
