Retired IAS officer Taru Talo inducted as new member of Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission

Retired IAS officer Taru Talo was inducted as a new member of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) at an oath-taking ceremony held in Itanagar.

APPSC Chairman Prof. Paradip Lingfa administered the Oath of Office and Oath of Secrecy to Talo in the presence of senior bureaucrats, dignitaries and officials of the Commission.

Talo, a retired IAS officer of the 2011 AGMUT cadre, retired from government service on March 31, 2026, after more than three decades of service in the military and civil administration. He is a native of Ziro in Lower Subansiri district.

Before joining the civil services, Talo underwent fighter pilot training at the Air Force Academy in Dundigal, Hyderabad. He later served as an Acting Sub-Lieutenant and became the first naval officer from Arunachal Pradesh.

During his administrative career, Talo served in several key positions in Arunachal Pradesh, including as an Extra Assistant Commissioner at Tezu. He also served as Director of Tourism, Joint Secretary of Finance and Director of Industries between 2021 and 2023.

He was inducted into the Indian Administrative Service in April 2023. Before his retirement, he served as Secretary of Labour and Employment and Secretary of the State Election Commission of Arunachal Pradesh.

Speaking to India Today, Talo urged aspirants to have faith in the Chairman and members of the Commission. He said his previous experience as Secretary of the State Election Commission would help him contribute effectively to the APPSC and ensure that examinations and recruitment processes are conducted in a free and fair manner.

APPSC Chairman Paradip Lingfa also addressed the issue of the new recruitment rules providing 100 per cent reservation for eligible Scheduled Tribe candidates with Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) in the specified recruitment framework.

Lingfa said the provision would apply to new recruitment against vacant posts and upcoming examinations, in accordance with the government's orders. He said the Commission would conduct examinations while adhering to the prescribed reservation rules and eligibility requirements.

The APPSC chairman urged candidates to prepare for upcoming examinations, emphasising the importance of hard work and confidence in the Commission's recruitment process.
