Sela Tunnel marks one year of operation, boosting connectivity and development in Tawang

The Sela Tunnel, India's highest bi-lane tunnel at 13,000 ft, marks its first anniversary since its inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 9, 2023.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju personally visited the tunnel and extended his congratulations to the entire team behind this engineering marvel.

Over the past year, the tunnel has significantly improved connectivity to Tawang, ensuring unhindered movement of tourists, locals, and military convoys.

By reducing travel time, distance, and transportation costs, it has bolstered socio-economic growth in the region, leading to a surge in tourism and infrastructure development, particularly in Tawang.

The Sela Tunnel has also earned multiple prestigious accolades, including a mention in the World Book of Records, the ASSOCHAM Award, the Build Infra Award, and a Gold Medal presented to Project Vartak by the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh.

The tunnel stands as a symbol of strategic significance and regional progress, reinforcing India’s commitment to infrastructure advancement in the Northeast.
