Seven rooms destroyed in early morning blaze at Arunachal college hostel
A fire engulfed seven rooms at the boys' hostel of Indira Gandhi College in Tezu, Lohit district, during the early hours of November 7, leaving several students displaced but miraculously causing no casualties.
The blaze erupted around 3:00 am at the hostel situated opposite Dangariya Baba Mandir. Fire brigade personnel responded swiftly to the emergency call, managing to contain the flames before they could spread further through the building.
The prompt intervention proved crucial in preventing what could have been a catastrophic loss of life.
Authorities have yet to determine what sparked the fire, with investigations currently underway to establish the cause of the incident.
The minister for Women and Child Development visited the affected students at the Dangrithan Old Boys Hostel site later that day, where she distributed immediate cash relief from her personal funds to help the victims cope with their losses.
Expressing sympathy for those impacted by the fire, Minister Pul assured the students and their families of full government support during this challenging period. She pledged that relief measures and rehabilitation assistance would be expedited to reach the affected individuals as quickly as possible.
The incident has raised concerns about fire safety protocols in educational institutions across the district.
