Suspected cattle thief nabbed by villagers in Arunachal’s Papum Pare, vehicle seized

A suspected cattle thief was caught by villagers in Khamyir yesterday, August 26 while attempting to steal cows and goats. According to locals, the miscreants were using a Tata mobile van covered with plastic sheets to transport the stolen animals.

Residents alleged that the accused and his associates had entered the state without valid Inner Line Permit (ILP) documents, raising serious concerns about the failure of security mechanisms to curb unauthorized influx.

Khamyir, also known as Gunko Khamir, is a village in the Sangdupota (Besar Nello) sub-district of Papum Pare, situated near the Poma River.

Villagers have demanded strict action against the accused and called for stronger vigilance along entry points to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Officials said further investigation is underway to identify others involved in the cattle theft network.
