The three-day-long Tamladu Festival of the Mishmi community concluded with grand celebrations at Yatong in Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh, marking the 55th edition of the revered festival. The event witnessed the presence of several distinguished guests, including Chief Minister Pema Khandu, who attended as the Chief Guest, alongside Legislative Assembly Speaker Tesam Pongte, Member of Parliament Tapir Gao, and local MLA & Minister Dasanglu Pul. Also in attendance were MLAs Zingnu Namchoom (Namsai), Mopi Mihu, Puinnyo Apum, and Laisam Simai, further adding to the significance of the celebration.
Hailing the cultural richness of the Mishmi community, CM Khandu emphasized that Tamladu is more than a festival—it is a deep-rooted celebration of faith, nature, and heritage. He lauded the Mishmis residing near the Indo-China border for preserving their customs and traditions over generations.
The festival showcased vibrant cultural performances, spiritual rituals, and traditional dances, reflecting the community's devotion to Mother Nature. The highlight of the festival was the traditional Tanggong Dance, a striking display of Arunachal’s diverse cultural landscape.
Celebrated annually in February, the Tamla-Du Festival is a significant occasion for the Digaru Mishmis, emphasizing harmony, spirituality, and unity. As prayers were offered to Mother Nature, the festival resonated with its core message of preserving nature and fostering communal joy, further strengthening the cultural fabric of Arunachal Pradesh.
