Tangsa community’s ‘Moh Mol’ play mesmerises audience at Arunachal Rang Mahotsav
A vibrant stage play titled The Genesis of Moh Mol, showcasing the cultural richness of the Tangsa community of Changlang, captivated audiences at the Arunachal Rang Mahotsav, the state’s premier international theatre festival.
The production, directed by Rilli Ngomle, brought to life the origin of the Moh-Mol festival through the journey of its central character, Wang San Ran.
Former Miss Arunachal Tengam Celina Koyu, speaking to India Today, praised the festival for providing a valuable platform to artists and youth across the state. She highlighted how the Arunachal Rang Mahotsav is nurturing talent by offering exposure to theatre and acting workshops.
The play, initiated by Jairampur MLA Laisam Simai, aimed to promote goodwill among all sections of society while celebrating and safeguarding the Tangsa community’s rich cultural heritage.
The colourful display of traditional rituals, folk dances, and prayers performed by members of the Tangsa tribe and its sub-tribes emerged as a major highlight of the evening.
The Moh-Mol festival, which unites all Tangsa sub-tribes, symbolises peace, harmony, and cultural continuity. Its dramatic portrayal at the Arunachal Rang Mahotsav not only entertained audiences but also strengthened appreciation for the diverse cultural traditions of Arunachal Pradesh.
