Two arrested in gunpoint robbery cases in Arunachal's Naharlagun

Arunacgal Police have arrested two men in connection with a string of gunpoint robberies that took place across the Capital Complex area of Naharlagun.

The accused have been identified as Maru Takam (22), son of Maru Tana from Kra-Daadi district, and Dayum Tado, son of Dayum Tado from Papumpare. According to Superintendent of Police Nyelam Nega, the arrests were made on October 29 and 31, while a third suspect is still on the run.

During the operation, police recovered an R15 motorcycle, a scooty, two gas cylinders, a laptop, and a guitar believed to have been stolen during the robberies.

Investigations revealed that the duo carried out the crimes while wearing surgical masks to hide their identities. SP Nega said Maru Takam already faces nine criminal cases within the Capital Complex for various offences.

The arrests came after reports of gunpoint robberies at a wine shop in Naharlagun and a vegetable and grocery store in Papu Nallah on September 10 and 11. Following these incidents, police registered cases and launched an intensive investigation that led to the suspects’ capture.

Police efforts are ongoing to trace the absconding accomplice.
