Itanagar, January 7, 2020:

The Pare Project Land Affected Welfare Committee (PPLAWC) in Arunachal Pradesh has called for a 36-hour bandh from January 9 to mark their protest against the NEEPCO authorities, with the demand of regularization of their jobs.

It has been learned that the protest has been called against the NEEPCO authorities at various sites under the Pare Hydro Electric Project (PHEP) in Papum Pare district.

The PPLAWC in an official statement alleged that the authorities of NEEPCO have failed to meet the PPLAWC’s demand for regularization of the job of 48 ITI employees who were appointed on a contractual basis for two years. They were given assurance that the jobs will be regularized after the completion of the contractual period.

But instead, the employees have alleged that the NEEPCO authorities have extended the contract for another year in 2019, and the extended contract period is due to end on January 30.

Demanding the immediate regularization of the 48 ITI jobs on or before 30 January 2020, the PPLAWC said that the families of the employees have been severely affected by the PHEP.
