112 fresh COVID-19 cases detects in Karimganj in 24 hours; tally reaches 5,069

KARIMGANJ:  With the detection of 112 new COVID-19 cases in Karimganj in the past 24 hours, the district's COVID-19 tally reached 5,069.

Of the total new cases detected today,106 people have been tested positive during Rapid Antigen Test and six under RT-PCR.

Yesterday, 28 inmates at the district Jail were infected with COVID-19, up from six the day before, bringing the total number of positive cases to 34.

All the infected inmates are currently undergoing treatment at the jail and the other 41 inmates of the jail have been kept in separate cells, away from the infected inmates.

Karimganj currently has 470 active COVID-19 cases while 15 patients infected with the virus have been discharged from hospital and home isolation during the period.

A total of 1,294'swab samples were collected today. Altogether 2,38,539 samples have been tested so far.

The district has currently 13 active containment zones.

Meanwhile, Assam’s COVID-19 tally went up to 2,83,313 yesterday, as the state reported this year’s highest single-day spike of 5,626 fresh cases.

On the other hand, 47 new fatalities pushed the state’s coronavirus death toll to 1,578.
