DHUBRI: Yet in another breakthrough, Assam police yesterday night detained one container truck along with as many as 13 cattle being prepared to be smuggled to Bangladesh along the Assam Bengal border.
Acting on a tip-off, Prashanta Das, Sub-inspector, Chagolia Out Post carried a special operation in National Highway 17 yesterday midnight in the bordering Assam and West Bengal and detained the container truck along the cattle.
The container truck bearing registration no (UP-78CN-7101) had a secret chamber inside it that was blocked from one side and a section of the ceiling was cut off to allow air to pass through.

According to sources, the recovered cattle were being prepared for smuggled to Bangladesh through a distant settlement of Dhubri.
The driver of the smuggled cattle vehicle parked the vehicle before the Assam checkpoint entering from West Bengal through Chagolia and fled the scene.
Later, the confiscated cattle were taken to the government pound, and the vehicle that was seized by police, informed Sub-inspector Prashanta Das of Chagolia, Dhubri.
Cattle smuggling continues to transport cattle from Haryana and other Indian states to Indo-Bangladesh via West Bengal and Dhubri.
