">@assampolice recovered buried deep inside the ground - 2 No. Of AK-47 rifles With 1 magazine and 9 rounds of ammunition & 2 No. Of Grenades," Assam's Additional Director General of Police G P Singh wrote in a tweet yesterday.

It needs mention here that many weapons, buried under the ground, have been recovered in the BTR region in the lead up to the elections. In all 4 districts, several heavy-duty weapons have been found by the police personnel amid the ongoing drive to put an end to the 'gun culture' in the state.

On receiving specific input from sources about the location of weapon cache, a joint team of Indian Army, SSB and Assam Police conducted a successful search operation in which a huge cache of arms, ammunition, high explosives and grenades were recovered in Akshiguri in Ripu Reserve Forest of Kokrajhar District, Assam.
