DIBRUGARH: Two youths from Upper Assam's Dibrugarh district were drowned today while washing cattle on the occasion of Goru (cow) Bihu. While one has been found dead, the search for the other continues.
The two youths were drowned in Buridehing river at Lezai Bahbari under Barbaruah Police station in Dibrugarh district when they had gone to wash their cattle in the river on the occasion of Goru Bihu today.

Goru Bihu -- the first day of the yearly folk festival -- is marked by the worship of the cattle and washing of their bodies (especially beside rivers and streams).
While the body of Sanu Khanikar was recovered by SDRF, a hectic search operation is on to trace Shirumoni Bora.
