GUWAHATI: Amid a staggering rise in COVID-19 cases, the police administration of Assam's Guwahati city has arrested a couple of homeopathy doctors who were practicing allopathy using fake Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degrees.
This was brought to the notice of the police on April 19 last by Dr. Sujit Bordhan, the Registrar of Srimanta Sankardeva University of Health Sciences located at the Narkasur hilltop area.
In his FIR, Dr. Bordhan stated that Dr. Hrishikesh Bhuyan Dr. Monoranjan Roy, both homeopathic doctors, were reportedly practicing allopathic medicine in a few private hospitals of Guwahati by submitting fake MBBS degree certificates in the name of Srimanta Sankardeva University of Health sciences.

While Bhuyan, 25, hails from the Basistha Chariali area of Guwahati, Roy hails from Botiamari village in Boko.
"Accordingly, a case was registered at Bhangagarh police station vide Bhangagarh police station case no 201/2021 U/S 420/468/471 IPC," informed Guwahati police commissioner Munna Prasad Gupta.
Munna Prasad Gupta further divulged that the investigations of the case have been transferred to the Crime Branch. "Both the named accused have been apprehended and interrogation going on.," he added.
