Female student at Tezpur University dies by suicide

TEZPUR: In a tragic incident, a seventh semester student of Tezpur University has died by suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan of her hostel room.

The body of the 20-year-old female was found hanging on Friday morning by fellow inmates of the Kopili Girls Hostel after which they informed the authorities.

The student, who hails from R. K. B. Path, Dibrugarh, was pursuing her Integrated M.Sc. in Chemistry.

As soon as the police were apprised of the incident, they initiated investigation.

A Magistrate of the district administration accompanied by Barghat police personnel headed to the hostel and recovered the body which has been taken to Kanaklata Civil Hospital for autopsy.
