The 24 hour statewide Chakka Bandh crippled normal life in Assam causing inconvenience to commuters on Monday. All Assam Motors Workers Joint Council (AMWJC) and All India Road Transport Workers Federation (AIRTWF) has called for the bandh from 5 am demanding welfare, roll back of fuel prices, amendment of the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988 and withdrawal of ban on the movement of the e-rickshaws. Private buses, Ola and Uber cab, trackers and auto rickshaws remained off the road causing inconvenience to commuters who had a harrowing time going to office, school and colleges. The otherwise busy Adabari bus terminus wore a complete deserted look owing to the bandh. Though government operated bus services functioned normally, it was a little help to the hapless public. Workers calling the bandh staged dharna in front of the Deputy Commissioners and Circle Officers office. They also submitted memorandum to the concerned officials.
