Guwahati, October 3, 2019:

The All Assam Motor Transport Association (AAMTA) has called for 24 hours- Chakka bandh on Thursday. The 'bandh' started at 5 am on Thursday and will end at 5 pm today.

The life in Guwahati city in Kamrup (M) and other districts like Nagaon, Morigaon, Hajo, Barpeta, among other districts of the state, has come to a standstill.

People are seen waiting for buses in bus stoppages due to the Chakka bandh.

It may be mentioned that AAMTA has demanded an increase in bus fares, with an increase in petrol and diesel prices. This is one of the long standing demands of the AAMTA. The bus service association has also announced to launch democratic protests after the Durga Puja if their demands are not fulfilled.
